Thank you for a great day of learning and networking with other experts from around the country!

Yesterday, John and I had the pleasure of attending the SES Miami conference where we joined with other elite companies from around the country like Office Depot, Norwegian Cruise Lines, and Pierre Cardin for a day of learning and exchanging ideas and best practices around Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing.

Did you know that the Human Attention Span today is less than that of a goldfish?

Maile and Me

Maile OhyeOne of my┬áhighlights was meeting Maile Ohye, the┬áDeveloper Programs Tech Lead over at Google. I’ve watched her videos for years on the Google Webmaster Blog, and she was even more personable at the event.

Yeah, she also let me take a selfie.

She heavily focused on the upcoming change to promote mobile optimized sites on April 21st. It’s coming up quickly. Many in the audience see it as a Google penalty. Google sees it a bit differently. Maile said, “we see it as a promotion of mobile friendly sites” which is a good thing for the visitor. She also admitted that Google is struggling with the change, too. Many of the pages Google has created has not been optimized for mobile, but they are working on it.

Lots of Learning

I picked up a few great tips from the speakers and others at the event. One of them is to use the Justia.com site to list all my legal clients for good backlinks and traffic. Another was to download a copy of Screaming Frog and start using it ASAP.

I wish it were a bit longer and more hands on with a place to plug-in my laptop. Overall, the experience was great and I thank the team at SES for having us.
